Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
Thursday, Feb. 14
Dr. Jennifer C. Reneker, associate professor of physical therapy in the School of Health Related Professions, and Dr. Robert L. Hester, professor of physiology and biophysics, are slated to speak at TEDxJackson 2019, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

Friday, Feb. 15
Dr. Thomas H. Mosley Jr., professor of medicine (geriatrics) and neurology and Hughes Chair and director of The MIND Center, will give the Psychiatry Grand Rounds presentation, "Vascular Contribution to Cognitive Decline in Dementia: Insights from Studies at The MIND Center," at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, in room CW 308 of the Classroom Wing.

Subhi Talal Younes, a fifth-year M.D./Ph.D. student, will give the second in a three-part series of lectures sponsored by the UMMC Faith Seeking Understanding Interest Group, "Does God Exist?" at noon on Friday, Feb. 15, in room CW106 of the Classroom Wing.

Tuesday, Feb. 19
Dr. Jack L. Ferracane, professor and chair of restorative dentistry at the Oregon Health and Science University, will present the School of Dentistry Research Day 2019 keynote lecture, "Is the Polymerization Stress Produced During the Curing of Dental Composite Restorations Clinically Meaningful?" from 8-9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in classroom R153 (lower amphitheatre).
SOD Research Day activities also will include poster sessions from 9:30-11:30 a.m., an awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation of certificates and awards at 12:15 p.m. in the student union.

Dr. Patrick P. Greiffenstein, assistant professor of clinical surgery at Louisiana State University, will give the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds presentation, "Introducing Surgical Options for the Management of Severe Chest Wall Injury," from 8-9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in room CW 106 of the Classroom Wing.

Dr. Tamas Horvath, professor and chair of comparative medicine, Jean and David W. Wallace Professor of Biomedical Research, professor of neurobiology and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Yale University School of Medicine, will give a Grand Rounds presentation, “Hunger Promotes Life,” at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.
The presentation is sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research, the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases Research Center.
